Webkinz stuffed and virtual animals are big favorites with all of my grandkids, and probably with many of your grandchildren! Playing with the Webkinz online world is lots of fun but it can also be a bit of a challenge. Especially for all of us busy baby boomers in the Sandwich Generation as we are dealing with the myriad of issues involved in caring for the elderly parents in our family and helping with the grandchildren. That’s why I wrote the 11-part series, Webkinz Stuffed and Virtual Animals – Activities for Grandparents and Their Grandchildren!
GUESS WHAT! Webkinz made a few changes. So here I am to give you the updates I’ve spotted, just in time for y’all to have fun building sweet family memories while playing Webkinz with your grandkids for the Christmas holidays! 🙂
The first time you log on for the day, it now shows the DAILY KINZCARE right away as you open the page. Be sure to tell your grandkids to click on the correct day of the week as this is one of the easiest “how to earn money” tips on Webkinz. 🙂 Plus they usually get a food item for their pet, which saves them money as well. Once they click on the right day, it probably won’t show up the rest of the day, even if they re-log on later.
They’ve re-designed some of the menus. To get to the daily activities and earn money, you still click on THINGS TO DO, but then you have to click on MAP OF KINZVILLE. (Sometimes you will also see TODAY’s ACTIVITIES in the top left of the screen, but not always so I am just teaching my grandkids to go straight for the map. Much easier.) Once the map shows up, you can click on TODAY’s ACTIVITIES – #1 on the picture below) to do most of the daily activities. The GEM HUNT is not there anymore, however. For that, you click on CURIO SHOP on the map (#2). It will then take you to the shop where they can enjoy the GEM HUNT.
There are a few other changes, but I don’t think any are related to my past articles. My grandkids are quite excited about some of the new options such as the “Unlocking the Key” projects (#3 on the above picture) and Amazin’ Hamsters (we think it was where #4 is pointing, but it’s disappeared for the moment 🙂 ). That did require a download each time we used it so you would have to help them with that. It is brand new, so perhaps they are working out the kinks? 🙂
If you spot any other changes, let me know and I’ll post the updates. In the meantime, have plenty of winter fun with your grandkids and their Webkinz stuffed and virtual animals. It can definitely be a lot of fun and very educational (we’re using a couple of the games as fun with phonics resources). Always a fun combination for us grandparents and our grandchildren!
And here’s a recap of the whole Webkinz Stuffed and Virtual Animals – Activities for Grandparents and Their Grandchildren – just for you! 🙂
