My folks were very proactive about dealing with their aging issues, but still, when my dad had to quit driving, or move to a wheelchair, it was very hard. We talk to and/or see our parents everyday...and how nice for us, they live in the same condo building, 2 floors apart and close by! So I've never given thought to the idea of what a shock it would be too see them every 6 months or once a year while they are aging. One thing I didn't like about the article is they make it sound like it is so easy to begin parenting your parents--it is so hard for them to give up their independence inch by inch. Depending on their individual personalities, some can highly resent what they consider intrusion or "telling them what they really should do".
