Comforting Bible Verses for the Sandwich Generation: Jeremiah 29: 11 and Isaiah 42: 16

by on August 1, 2010

For I know the plans I have for you Jeremiah 29 11 crystal plaque to encourage you   I love encouraging little mottos and sayings, don't you? Old Proverbs from days past. Of course, the encouraging Bible verses in Proverbs are always the best, but I also like other ones such as, "every cloud has a silver lining," or "it's always darkest before the dawn." One of my favorites is so full of hope. "I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future!" And best of all  - it's the truth. I know this, in part, because of two more of my favorite and comforting Bible verses:

"For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD,

'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope."

Or, as my old paraphrase, The Living Bible, put it,

"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord.

Plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

 Jeremiah 29: 11

for I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord - Jeremiah 29 11 - pillow to encourage you and teach your grandchildren

Along unfamiliar paths I will guide you;

I will turn the darkness into light before you

and make the rough places smooth.

These are the things I will do,

I will not forsake you.

Isaiah 42: 16

Aren't those promises of God so very encouraging! During times when I have had to "walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death," these have been such sources of comfort to me. Knowing that, even though I did not know what was coming, God DID. AND He promised to give me a future and a hope. He promised to turn the darkness into light before us.

I know Who holds the future - For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord - Jeremiah 29 11

Yes, we will have trials and tribulations. That's in the Bible too! But even though we may go through suffering, you and I can KNOW that God is right there with us – NEVER forsaking us! We can totally and completely cling to that! I do, so very much!

And, thanks to LordSong, we can also sing it! On their album , I discovered this sweet song, I Know The Plans I Have For You and popped it into a Smilebox eCard, just for you. :)

What a blessing that song and both of those comforting Bible verses have been to me today, just in writing this. I hope and pray they will be a blessing to each of you as well, particularly any of you who are currently going through a difficult season of the Sandwich Generation issues! You can also enjoy more praise and worship hymn songs and Bible verses of encouragement at Spiritual Sunday and I Owe It All To Him, where she's asked each of us to share one of our favorite words. How do I ever pare it down to one??? But today, I will stick with the one I'm focusing on for this series. Comfort! Because God has promised to comfort and encourage us and in this world, that can sometimes seem so dark, that is a light we can cling to. Have a blessed week!

You posted my favorite scripture Jer 29:11. There are so many times that I also looked to this scripture as a reminder that he only wants good things for me and that it may not be visible now, but he has a plan for me. Praise Jesus!

Thank You, I really enjoyed reading your post this Sunday morning~ Sherry

Oh, I can just hear my husband singing his song, titled the same “I know the plans I have for you” as I read your post. It is comforting that God has plans for us!

Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite scriptures too, and Isaiah 42:16 is so good too. God’s Word is so rich and powerful. I’m talking about faith this week, and sharing a story from the Women of Faith conference on Tuesday. Hope you’ll stop by for a visit. :)
