Hi Dale, I never compared prices for this although other than the initial cost, they do have a very inexpensive monthly option. But if I had been focusing on price, I would have had her get AT&T, the same as my kids and I all have. AT&T is great for families because if you get their mobile to mobile option (I think it's $5 a month?), you can call other AT&T for free. It's GREAT. BUT my mom would never be able to figure out any of the those cell phones. She's finally got the Jitterbug down, just because it is so simple. If your mom can handle the other types of phones, then she would definitely have more options. For aging parents who never caught on or tried technology, or who are starting to have memory and skill losses, though, the Jitter bug is a wonderful choice. :) Hope that helps :) :) :)

Good product review!

My mom has been paying Verizon $46/month for a cellphone she only needs for emergency. Now that her contract is up, we were considering a TracFone for her, just $29.99 for the phone and $9.99/month for 100 minutes.
It's a no contract as well; charging against her credit card.

*Has anyone out there compared the Tracfone to Jitterbug?
*The initial cost of the Jitterbug seems excessive to me, given it's pared down features. (I wonder how they came up with that price point.)
.
Thanks to anyone who can answer my questions. Dale...
