It's been a couple of weeks full of bright and colorful balls for our Sandwich Generation family. My senior relative is still enjoying her lightweight Carex walker with the Invacare Walker Glides (which are also available at ActiveForever) complete with tennis balls (tho not cute and pink like these, I'm afraid 🙂 ), but she's now using it primarily in the car, since it's so portable, and on sidewalks and boy, does that chew those balls up! Fortunately, I have some older, slightly dead ones from past tennis games with the grandkids, so we are fine for replacements.
Overall though, her walker still works well. One ball did pop out but it also popped back in easily. I appreciated the comment that Carex left in that post, "Sorry to hear about the squeaky noises, have you tried our walker ski glides? (item # A809-00)." They are talking about these cute things – Truth be told, I did NOT know about them. As I wrote in These Special Tennis Balls In Walker Glides Make Life Easier for the Sandwich Generation Caring for Elderly Parents With Medical Needs, the primary reason we wanted the tennis balls option was due to the noise her walker was making on the tile of the hospital. It wasn't "necessary," but it made her feel better and that's half the battle for getting well, isn't it? 🙂
Her physical therapist recommended the ball option which made me nervous (I am definitely klutzy with knives!). But these ski glides look great as well and I wish I'd heard about them sooner so I'm thrilled to be able to share this information with you. THANK YOU Carex for being so sweet and responsive to help us and for the great coupons at your site! 🙂 They also wrote, "Carex is now on Facebook so please check out our page for up-to-date product information and promotions." You hear so many negative news stories about companies. It's great to share positive news stories about good ones who are a big help to all of us boomers and seniors. 🙂
What about the rest of the colorful balls, you ask? Those were in last Monday's article. If you missed it, just click here to to find out just why this Sandwich Generation granny nanny was out at the Dollar store with the grandboys, looking for soft and squishy foam balls. 🙂
P.S. To enjoy more pink things – from practical to fanciful, head to Beverly and Pink Saturday. It's definitely puts a smile on the face of this Sandwich Generation granny nanny and hopefully will for you as well. And…
