What fun! My young grandson and I had the best time with one of the new-to-us apple crafts for kids I found online. We created a turkey out of his apples this week. We looked at the directions I posted here to get the basic idea. After talking it through, we decided to only use his apples and it worked out adorably.
The feet were carved from the apple skin, the feathers – of course – are apple slices. We used two tiny pieces of apple stem for the eyes and different little pieces of the apple skin for part of the face and bags. For some reason, he didn’t want to do all of that part – maybe because it was just looking too yummy all of a sudden. We laughed, we hugged, and he really liked it – I even got the top “grandparent prize” of a “Thank you for doing this with me, grandma!” Now that’s music to my ears! How about you?
The next thing I knew, he was gobbling away at the apple Gobbler and continuing to enjoy himself immensely.
A fun holiday memory we’ll enjoy for years to come, thanks to the joys of the camera in my iPhone.
P.S. Thank you so much for your comments. I enjoy them very much and read each one. I also love the grand ideas so many of you share that help and encourage other readers. Thank you.
