Making, Then Gobbling the Gobbler All Up

My grandson and I had so much fun making this turkey out of his apple.jpgWhat fun! My young grandson and I had the best time with one of the new-to-us apple crafts for kids I found online. We created a turkey out of his apples this week. We looked at the directions I posted here to get the basic idea. After talking it through, we decided to only use his apples and it worked out adorably.

The feet were carved from the apple skin, the feathers – of course – are apple slices. We used two tiny pieces of apple stem for the eyes and different little pieces of the apple skin for part of the face and bags. For some reason, he didn’t want to do all of that part – maybe because it was just looking too yummy all of a sudden. We laughed, we hugged, and he really liked it – I even got the top “grandparent prize” of a “Thank you for doing this with me, grandma!” Now that’s music to my ears! How about you? 🙂

The next thing I knew, he was gobbling away at the apple Gobbler and continuing to enjoy himself immensely.

My grandchild and I enjoyed gobbling this cute gobbler.jpg

A fun holiday memory we’ll enjoy for years to come, thanks to the joys of the camera in my iPhone. 🙂

Don’t you just love it when our grandchildren give us a thumbs up? Amara just loves it when I cut up an apple for her — and she is really going to love this! Thanks for getting me a gold star!

Despite all the cool new stuff you can buy at Michael’s these days, it seems that my grandkids like things like this the best, too! I think kids who didn’t even care that much for apples would want to “gobble” this one down! What a fun success this was for you!

Thanks Joyce 🙂 🙂 🙂

Woohoo Grandma KC – have a blast with it 🙂

Love this idea of using apples for crafts. Then, you get to eat it!

A friend told me about how she used apples to teach her children fractions when they were taking a trip, giving them one-quarter of the apple when they were one-quarter there.
